I’ll be the first to admit that I never thought I’d see the day when I’d be swooning over wood kitchen cabinets. They can come off as a bit traditional, and sometimes heavy, and truthfully, sometimes remind me of the 90’s (DON’T GET ME WRONG — I love the 90’s, juuuuust not its cabinets). But with updated styles and statement hardware, plus pairing them with other finishes, wood kitchen cabinets are quickly becoming my newest design obsession. They provide a refreshing escape from the all-white kitchen and instantly warm up a typically stark space. Hate to say it, but Stephen King’s right — everything old is definitely new again. Just see for yourself.

It’s no secret we have a bit of a crush on cognac. Leave it to these leather bar stools and the natural wood island to warm this all-white kitchen right up.
This freestanding island gives this kitchen the perfect bit of charm. Bonus points for how it compliments the gorgeous arched wood door.

Wood cabinets can feel a bit heavy in smaller spaces. Use open shelving to make storage less overwhelming in tiny kitchens.

Just kidding, guys (sort of). But seriously, why not use natural wood as a statement built-in with your white cabinets and painted island? Talk about a showstopper and a taste of all the finish worlds.
