DERBY -- The director of the Derby Parking Authority remained on the job Monday following his arrest late last week on a charge of criminal attempt to patronize a prostitute. Naugatuck police charged Leo Moscato, 46, of 34 Lewis St. The charge is a misdemeanor. Moscato will be arraigned in Superior Court in Waterbury.

According to Staffieri, Moscato is an employee of the Parking Authority, which would be responsible for any disciplinary action against him. Police put an advertisement on Craigslist, and police said it was reviewed by prosecutors so no issues of entrapment would arise. Men who responded to the advertisement provided their telephone and then arranged to meet a woman, who was an undercover police officer, police said.
The men were charged once they met and solicited a sex act from the officer, according to police. Male police officers also contacted women who had placed advertisements on Craigslist, which resulted in the two prostitution arrests, police said.
